Pupils at Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy in St Leonards on Sea can turn a new page this World Book Day, thanks to a donation of mental health and wellbeing themed books from Orbit Homes.

Colleagues from Orbit Homes visited Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy with a bundle of new books to show its support for the primary school this World Book Day.

Celebrated in the UK every year in March, World Book Day inspires children and young people to enjoy the life-changing benefits of reading, and Orbit Homes picked out books to support KS1 and KS2 pupils with their understanding of feelings and growing up, as well as activity books to help pupils stay calm and relaxed.

Maria Maxwell, Marketing Manager for Orbit Homes in the South, said: “At Orbit Homes we’re committed to making a positive impact in the local communities in which we build and we’re delighted to show our support for World Book Day this year with a donation to Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy. Books are an essential tool for supporting young people with their education and development, and we’re proud to share books that can not only support the children with their reading but help them learn healthy ways of maintaining good mental health and wellbeing when they’re both inside or outside of school.”

Ashleigh Beischer, Assistant Head, DSL and SENCO at Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy, added: “We embed mental health and wellbeing throughout our curriculum and this donation from Orbit Homes supports us with more helpful resources to share with our pupils. These books will help the children really embrace their feelings and emotions from a young age and support them in learning about how they can take care of not just their own, but also each other’s mental health and wellbeing. We’re very grateful to Orbit Homes for helping us make this World Book Day even more special for our students.”

Orbit Homes purchased the book bundles from Team Reid Reads, an independent bookseller for Usborne.
