North: A stone's throw from the A21, follow the road north towards Tunbridge Wells (25.8 miles) and Sevenoaks (35.3 miles), where you can access the the M25. 
West: The A259 west takes you through Bexhill (6.5 miles) and onto the A27. From here you travel south into Eastbourne (17.8 miles), or follow the road West to Brighton (37.1 miles).

St Leonards-on-Sea provides a picturesque backdrop for a range of restaurants, boutiques and a creative art scene. Take a stroll down the shingle beach, view an eclectic mix of film, comedy and music at Kino-Teatr or simply sit and take in St Leonards Gardens which is framed by architect James Burton's Regency buildings and an assortment of year-round plants.

Heading east along the coast will bring you to Hastings, with rich history spanning centuries and where the remains of William the Conqueror's first English castle stands today. Remaining a popular destination, there's plenty to keep you entertained from museum and art galleries, Hastings castle and country park, an aquarium and an extensive list of annual events. 

A little further afield is Rye, a medieval citadel home to cobbled streets lined with boutique hotels, cosy pubs and contemporary restaurants. A 5 minute drive will take you to the 7 mile stretch of dunes at Camber Sands, East Sussex's largest sandy beach. In the opposite direction is Bexhill, the birthplace of British motor racing, which is a popular tourist destination known for scenic coastal views, historic architecture and cultural heritage. 

Larger towns and cities such as Eastbourne, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Brighton are all easily accessible by major roads.
