Orbit Homes golf day raises £10,500 for homelessness charity
A golf day, hosted by Orbit Homes, has raised £10,500 for homelessness charity, Crisis.
The event took place at Barnham Broom Golf Club in Norwich, just 8 minutes from Avalon Place, a limited collection of two and three-bedroom affordable houses.
Colleagues and subcontractors made up the 18 teams competing, which took place from 09:00 – 16:00.
Ray Winney, Regional Managing Director at Orbit Homes, commented: “The charity golf day was a huge success and I’m delighted with the amount of money raised for Crisis. The generosity of our colleagues and subcontractors will no doubt make a positive impact on those using Crisis services this winter and furthering the vital support they offer to people experiencing homelessness. I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the event, Bateman Groundworks for sponsoring the day and to Barnham Broom Golf Club for hosting us. Without the generosity of colleagues, subcontractors and local business, this day wouldn’t have been possible.”
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Orbit Homes for coming together and raising £10,500 to support the work we do,” said Matt from the Fundraising Team at Crisis.
“To put into context how much your donations help, a ‘Crisis at Christmas’ place costs £29.73, which could help provide guests with hot meals and a Christmas lunch, hotel accommodation, clothes, shoes, toiletries, health checks, companionship from volunteers, health and wellbeing programmes, as well as advice on housing, employment, welfare and benefits. We will be supporting more than 7,000 people experiencing homelessness this Christmas, and none of this would be possible without the kindness of our supporters.”
The winners of the charity golf day were announced later that evening at a fundraising event, which included a raffle and auction.
Various prizes were donated by colleagues, subcontractors, and local businesses, including a signed Anthony Joshua boxing glove, meal, and overnight stay at a hotel, £150 gift voucher, golf passes, spa day, afternoon tea voucher and a museum visit, as well as bottles of prosecco and chocolates.
