Fred and Angie find their forever home at Hanwood Park, Kettering
Meet Fred and Angie, who became shared owners of their new home at Hanwood Park in Kettering in October 2022.
With retirement in mind, the couple were looking to move somewhere closer to their family and after doing some research, they found the Hanwood Park location and homes perfect for them. Buying a new build property appealed on the spot; as well as being more energy efficient than their previously owned home and low maintenance, it’s also a blank canvas for them to make their own.
They were eligible to buy with Shared Ownership, which allows you to buy a share of a new home (between 25% and 75%) and then pay a subsidised monthly rent on the unsold share. They were very pleased with the support they received from the sales team at Hanwood Park: “Throughout the process, the sales team were great, helpful in every way, it was a real pleasure dealing with them”.
Fred told us that buying with Shared Ownership gave him and Angie financial security, which was very important given that they are looking to retire. He thinks the scheme offers long term stability and is a great opportunity to get on the property ladder, with the added option of buying more shares in the future.
The couple are already reaping the benefits of their energy efficient home: “Without a doubt, the house is warm and well insulated, and we don’t need the heating on as much. Overall, our energy usage is less, and our bills are lower than our previous home”.
