Finding the perfect family home with Shared Ownership at Shepherd’s Gate, Shipston-on-Stour

Today’s housing market is especially challenging for first-time buyers, but more people are finding that Shared Ownership is a viable and affordable route into home ownership.

Meet Rob and Amanda, along with their two children, Thomas and Florence, who moved into their new 3-bedroom home at Shepherd’s Gate in Shipston-on-Stour this spring.  They had been saving for some time and were keen to move from their rented accommodation into a more permanent family home they could call their own.  House prices in Shipston were out of their reach, but after researching the options, they discovered Shared Ownership.

The scheme allows you to buy a share of a new home and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share.  You then have the option to buy further shares in the future and in most cases, eventually own your home outright.  Buying a share of a new home means a smaller mortgage and deposit is needed than if you were to buy outright, making it a more affordable way to get onto the property ladder.

The couple was thrilled to discover that Shepherd's Gate had new Shared Ownership homes available in a location that was conveniently close to their workplace. This option for home ownership was exactly what they were looking for and they eagerly seized the opportunity.

After visiting the development, they soon realised that the style, specification, and layout of our homes stood out compared to other new build developments. Without hesitation, they secured their new home, a beautiful 3-bedroom semi-detached house.

They found the buying process stress-free, and greatly appreciated the support provided by the Orbit team: “The sales team were very knowledgeable and reassuring and kept us updated throughout. Our family is now settled and very happy with our new home. Shared Ownership has allowed us to get onto the housing ladder and live in exactly the area we wanted”.
