Empty nesters find their perfect home at Micklewell Park, Daventry

Meet Hugh and Penny, who joined the new, growing community at Micklewell Park in Daventry last Autumn.

Finding themselves as “empty nesters” after their children had grown up and moved out, they made the decision to downsize from the family home they had lived in for 25 years. A new-build property was top of their wish list, as they wanted a more energy efficient home with minimal maintenance.

They had decided that Daventry would be the ideal location for their new home and after visiting several new developments in the area, they chose Micklewell Park: “We liked the overall design of the development and there are lots of green spaces and walks, and it’s near to the canal.”

From the exciting range of different house types available at Micklewell Park, they chose the 3-bedroom Fir, mainly because it was detached and had a garage, which was perfect for housing Hugh’s classic car. “We also loved the layout of The Fir and its location within the development,” remarks Hugh.

Now that they have been settled in their new home for a few months, we asked Hugh and Penny what they love most about their new home. “We love the fact that we are on the outskirts of the town with easy access to the countryside. The size of the house is perfect for our needs, and it is very energy-efficient; we have saved about 66% on our energy bills”.
