Anchorians U10 Diamonds sport new kits thanks to Orbit Homes

Young footballers from the Kent-based Anchorians under-10s Diamonds team are sporting brand new kits thanks to a £550 donation from Orbit Homes.

Established in 2004, the Anchorians Football Club in Gillingham started off with just a few teams and has now transformed into the biggest grass roots football club in Kent, with over 75 teams and 1,000 members.  The club provides opportunities for boys, girls, men, ladies, and those with disabilities.

The U10 Diamonds are currently in their first season and were formed following a surge over the last 12 months of girls wanting to play football, with four U10 girls’ teams now registered at Anchorians.  The Diamonds have eleven players aged 9-10 who play 7-a-side football in the U10 Autumn Green Central group of the Kent Girls & Ladies Football League.

Carla Barrett, U10 Diamonds Manager at Anchorians Football Club, said: “We are extremely grateful to Orbit Homes for sponsoring the Diamonds and supporting girls’ football. The team love their new kit featuring the Orbit Homes logo and were excited to wear it for the first time.

“As a newly formed team, the girls started from scratch and have been working hard to develop their skills and game. They’re already showing fantastic teamwork and determination, and as well as a real sense of fun. I have watched them all grow in confidence, on and off the pitch, and it’s a pleasure to be their manager.”

Maria Maxwell, Regional Marketing Manager at Orbit Homes, added: “As an organisation, we are committed to making a positive impact on society and are delighted that our social value programme has been able to make a difference to the Anchorians Football Club under-10s Diamonds team.

“It is fantastic to see the growth of girls’ football following the Lionesses success at the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 and I look forward to seeing the under-10s Diamonds develop over the years to come.”

Orbit Homes currently has nine new thriving communities underway in and around Kent, comprising a range of affordable two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. A choice of purchasing options are also available including market sale and shared ownership.
