Our Erith Park project has set a quality bar for residential design in the area. The new Arthur Street will complement Erith Park in scale and size but will have its own unique character and identity. Together with Erith Park, it will form an attractive new gateway to the Erith.
It will be a peaceful and green haven providing attractive contemporary homes in one of the most affordable areas of London.
People will be delighted to live at Arthur Street and proud to call it home. The community will include households of all sizes and at different life stages, all of whom will find homes which meet their needs and with attractive public spaces to enjoy. Homes of different tenures will be indistinguishable from the street and everyone will feel that they have an equal stake in the community. Homes will be comfortable throughout the year and affordable to run. They will be well-ventilated, light and spacious.
The external spaces will be as carefully designed as the homes. People will have priority over cars and streets will be safe for pedestrians and play. The central ‘village green’ will be an attractive green space for all to enjoy, with room for energetic children alongside people quietly enjoying the sun. There will be opportunities to get involved and take responsibility for the garden areas. Walking around and through the neighbourhood will feel safe and people will stop to talk to neighbours, helping to build social links within the community. There will be safe pedestrian and cycle routes through the site and connecting to local facilities.
Design of buildings, streets and green spaces will minimise the environmental impact of the development and residents will both be able to, and positively encouraged to, live sustainable lives. Homes will be designed to minimise energy usage and ensure passive ventilation to reduce overheating. We will include features to allow residents to reduce waste and water consumption. The external environment and landscaping will be designed to enhance the ecology and biodiversity of the area.
The quality of the Arthur Street development will help to transform perceptions of Erith and Slade Green and will demonstrate the appetite and market for well-designed contemporary homes in the area.
Our aspiration is that the above will be true, not just at handover, but in fifty years’ time.
