Keeping it in the family

“I was looking for a house that I could manage myself. As a single lady I didn’t want a project this time, it needed to be well built with attention to detail, spacious, light & airy and have a good feel about it.”

Sue Hill decided to buy an Orbit home after helping her son with the process of buying his own. Due to Sue’s personal circumstances, she had been renting since 2015. Firstly in Northants and then in Derby.

Sue was missing her family and friends in Northampton and wanted to find a way back to be closer to them, whilst also getting herself on the property ladder.

“I was looking for a house that I could manage myself. As a single lady I didn’t want a project this time, it needed to be well built with attention to detail, spacious, light and airy and have a good feel about it. I wanted good storage space, a manageable size garden and somewhere to park my car too.”

“I wanted good storage space, a manageable size garden and somewhere to park my car too.”

In October 2016, Sue’s son invited her to join him at the open day event being held in Birmingham where Orbit had a stand. Sue was really impressed with the knowledge and information about the Shared Ownership scheme on offer from the representatives at Orbit.

“One thing I took away from that day was that Orbit go that extra mile in helping their customers through the whole process with the aim to be able to achieve 100% ownership using the staircasing process which is my goal.”

Her son made the first contact with Orbit’s Sales & Marketing Consultant, Stephanie Pack and successfully moved into his property by August 2017. During the process, Sue went along and met Stephanie when her son had his home demonstration.

“I was really impressed at how professionally the whole process was handled.”

A couple of months later, Sue made up her mind that she wanted to make the move.

She submitted her application and had a response within days saying she had been accepted. From then on things snowballed; she received her mortgage offer, and by December she was choosing her plot at Orbit’s stunning development, ‘The Sidings’ based in Northampton and was paying her reservation deposit.

“I was so excited, Stephanie was great, she explained the whole process and to this day it works. Stephanie and all parties involved have been amazing, the process has been seamless and I can’t thank everyone enough for making it happen, it really has been a wonderful journey.”

Sue’s new house is located in Thrapston, a small market town just off the A14 with easy access to major roads and towns for example Peterborough, Milton Keynes, and Cambridge. With its good selection of cosy cafes, pubs and inns serving traditional fayre along with local restaurants, there are plenty of options for dining and drinking.

“My daughter is buying a property under the same scheme. Orbit has made it work for me and my family, thank you so much!”

For those in search of a little more hustle and bustle, the larger nearby towns provide additional options to suit any taste, on any budget. The area is served with a great selection of primary and secondary schools for any growing family wanting to move in the area. Those with a sporty side will be spoilt for choice as the town provides a number of excellent facilities which cater for all levels of ability.

Commenting on the location, Sue said: “The people in the area are really friendly; I have already spoken to one of my neighbours. The local shops in the town are owned by the locals which again is really important to me, there are a couple of nice restaurants, a hair salon, a beauty therapist, great chippy and well stocked local Co-op. There is also a monthly “What’s On” magazine delivered to keep you up-to-date with local events and adverts for local trades’ people.”

After such positive family recommendations, Sue’s daughter has now just applied to find her new home with Orbit.
